When building apps for the OMI hackathon, I really pushed my self to answer, 'What is an app that can only be built on OMI?.' As peter theil says, you need secrets. One secret of your startup can be 'new technology was unlocked, and I build something completely new that was unlocked with the tech, that nobody else has built'

Realize, apps such as 'whats the weather' or 'whats 3+3 omi' or 'sleep tracking' aren't bringing direct value to OMI. All of these apps can be built on something like an iPhone anyway- which most consumers would prefer. Siri can answer most questions, sleep apps exist, etc - building it on omi doesn't bring unique value proposition that makes OMI valuable.

That's why I chose to build an SOS system. SOS requires fast alerts, automatic systems, and always-on systems. It is poised perfectly for the OMI because it is inherently an app that an iPhone cannot replicate. We can't have an iPhone recording 24/7 listening - but the OMI does just that specifically.

After building SOS, I posted online on twitter. I am very grateful to Nik for supporting through video calls and reposting my tweet. It ended up going semi-viral: https://x.com/shreybirmiwal/status/1857880411767967761
