Inspiration
We wanted to find a way to help aircraft respond to emergencies more efficiently. Coordinating multiple planes at the right positions and altitudes can be difficult, so we wondered if AI could help simplify the process and potentially save more lives.
What it does
SOS ATC AI is designed to assess simulated weather, terrain, and aircraft status, evaluate possible safety routes, and coordinate emergency notifications between multiple aircraft.
How we built it
We designed the concept around an interactive map, aircraft tracking, hazard assessment, route planning, and a shared emergency coordination dashboard.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was understanding how difficult it is to coordinate multiple aircraft accurately while accounting for changing weather, terrain, and positioning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We turned an idea about emergency response into a structured concept that combines AI, route evaluation, and multi-aircraft coordination.
What we learned
We learned that AI needs reliable data, logical calculations, and clear communication to support better decisions.
What's next for SOS ATC
We plan to develop a working simulation, improve route evaluation, add voice notifications, and test different emergency scenarios.
