Inspiration

Sorting trash always is the best policy, It helps not just us, but all the plants and animals in the wild, this is why we thought of making a garbage sorter to help people understand where trash goes.

What it does

Our project, SortSustainably, has two options that you can select. The first one is a fully working garbage sorter, which spits out an answer for where an item may be deposited. The second one, the TrashDash, is a fun game/quiz to test kid's knowledge.

How we built it

We built it using CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and the Cohere API. The framework was done by mostly HTML for all three of the pages. The styling was completed using CSS, to enhance visual effects. JavaScript coded the backend, what happens behind what you would see on the website. Lastly, Cohere API is the trash sorter we have today.

Challenges we ran into

We didn't really know how to code a lot of things, 2/3 of our team didn't know any HTML at all, and we struggled though getting a API to work. But, we powered through and still got the job done.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We learned a lot of HTML and JavaScript commands, this helped us grow overall.

What we learned

All of us learned a lot in HTML, which we mainly used to make the website. We also learned how to use API, as to save a lot of time in future hackathons.
