Inspiration
1 - One of us loves sports 2 - People love social platforms 3 - There is always room for healthy competition
What it does
SoreWinner seeks out to intertwine the above 3 things....making it an ideal app for sports fans: -users view daily fixtures and pick the teams they think will win -The points a user is awarded per correct pick are subject to many factors (e.g Vegas odds, team rankings, e.t.c) -No money. Just bragging rights.
*This app is implemented once, and later deployed to multiple platforms. Namely, to windows, ios, and android app stores.
How we built it
-we started off by downloading and installing a number of software and packages. -Then followed research and a steep learning curve. -After that, it was all fun and games. -The majority of the time was spent seeking out ways to make the app more dynamic and data driven.
*So much still left to be done
Challenges we ran into
- Working with a new framework
- Making API calls from localhost (CORS problem)
- Sitting beside a group that was working on THE coolest project ( very distracting ) -The wireless..
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Challenging ourselves with new technologies -Not resorting to implementing the app in languages that we are proficient in -The amount of free goodies we accepted. -Vigorously battling sleep....but more so the wireless.
What we learned
Apart from practicing and testing Ionic's boundaries, we learned that you can not always be the most creative person in the room.
It's liberating when you're around creative minds.
What's next for SoreWinner
The market for such an app is certainly there. But let's not jinx it.
