Inspiration

Everyone in our team is new to Oklahoma, either as a new student or as internationals, and unfortunately whenever you try to talk to someone they are always stuck in the black hole of their phones. Making those first initial friends is so unbelievebly hard because you don't understand the culture and the way you should carry yourself. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have interests that you can talk about forever (like vintage sunglasses). So we built something that is simply an excuse to get off your phone and talk to someone new, based on who you are not what you look like, and reach new heights; socially.

What it does

It uses proximity to connect you to people based on your shared interests and gives you 5 minutes to get to know them and meet up in real life!

How we built it

React Native, Expo, TailwindCSS, Firebase Firebase Functions for handling location updates Expo for Notifications and Deployment Firestore Database Firebase Auth Cursor Claude Opus 4.6

Challenges we ran into

To build proximity was really difficult and making sure that we maintain people’s privacy was something we really had to prioritize and figure out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We build a fully functional app that is ready for production in 10 hours which we are very excited about.

What we learned

We learned a lot of ways to deploy a fully functioning app on IOS quickly while making sure it solves a real problem people have.
