Inspiration

SonoShare was built out of the team members' and their friends' true frustration, around not being able to find more music that they like. The solutions were out there (Spotify's music recommendation service for example) but they were built around systematic calculations and not true feedback from the users' themselves.

What it does

SonoShare scans your music from your device's library (and in the future - from your YouTube Liked Videos list) and compares it with your friends' folders. Then it shows you the friends who have matches with your list, actually showing the people who you share your taste in music with.

How we built it

SonoShare was built with Java and Android Studio IDE. We tried using the RapidAPI backend solution but ran into problems whose source was in RapidAPI's end.

Challenges we ran into

Mainly the problem with the RapidAPI backend service that was pretty faulty.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud for the great UI and UX of the app, we truly think it represents our strive for beautiful software.

What we learned

We learned that trusting new technologies for first time development in a Hackathon isn't quite good. You really have to trust on your experience with such platforms when you come to building a Hackathon app.

What's next for SonoShare

We mainly think about integrating concerts into the app, recommending these to people based on the artists and genres they like and the people they are connected with. We also develop ways to better connect with people with the same taste in music like you do, creating a community based on musical matches.

We also compete in the Social project category.
