Inspiration
During the initial ideation phase of this project, our team was inspired by 2D platforming games of the golden days of console gaming.
What it does
You, the player, are able to run, shoot, and jump, in order to fight off Old Man Jenkins' friends from his bingo club, who despise sentient flowers.
How we built it
We used a sprite creation app, Aseprite, along with Unity in order to construct a 2D environment with working components such as enemies, a health bar, shooting mechanics, and power ups.
Challenges we ran into
We are inexperienced with the Unity game engine as well as c# as a whole, so adding components such as AI tracking and tile mapping proved to have a steeper learning curve than anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The aforementioned AI enemy tracking as well as the animations on the sprite work are two accomplishments of which we are proud.
What we learned
Apart from some basics of the Unity engine, we learned that a fresh pair of eyes can lend a much needed perspective and result in swifter resolutions on difficult problems.
What's next for Sonny Potts: Battle Against Jenkins' Bingo Club
We will continue to build upon this idea in future personal projects.
