Inspiration
- The Stanley Parable's engaging narrative: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stanley_Parable
- Chirp-based triggers spread around the real world, for interactive storytelling
- Choose your own adventure books, e.g. Goosebumps
What it does
- "Abbey Road Runner Simulator - can you keep the band happy?"
- Audio triggered "choose your own adventure" game
- Website (mobile compatible) that narrates a story which the user defines
- Promotes exploration in the real world
How we built it
p5.js, Chirp WASM, Audiocommons
Challenges we ran into
- (!!) Ultrasonic mobile limitations
- Browser compatibility issues on mobile
- Non-HTTPS compatible APIs mixed with HTTP compatible APIs
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Javascript that runs, a working app
- An actual text-to-speech narrative driven by an easily approach script for a non-techy individual
What we learned
Hackathons are hard
What's next for Sonic Breadcrumbs
- Expanded demo using better stationary chirp-points
- Attempt to user ultrasonic or chirp masking
- Exploration of applications in theatre
Built With
- audiocommons
- chirp
- mobile
- p5
- wasm
