Inspiration

inspiration: Our goal for the Steel City Winter Hacks 2022 Hackathon was to create a beginner friendly start to finish platform for music creation as well as music streaming so that more people than ever can gain a voice through music.

What it does

what it does: Songstacks is a website that allows music creators to easily find beats and audio to sample and build on top of. Each song is considered a "layer" because it's a building block that other creators can stack their own layers on top of. Songstacks tries to remove the hassle of finding good beats to sing over, as well as allowing beat producers to get their work noticed and used.

How we built it

We used React.js for the frontend, Golang for the backend, and MongoDB to store files and auth info.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulty figuring out how to get the audio streaming to work, as well as how to get the infinite carousel to work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of working together and making this app.

What we learned

We learned how to store files on MongoDB, this was our first time using Golang so we learned that also.

What's next for SongStacks

We might end up expanding songstacks by adding in a fully featured audio editor
