Inspiration
Inspired by spotify's jam feature, concert lightsticks, and music clubs.
What it does
Allows artists to host a session where users can scan a QR code to join and request songs from spotify to a queue.
How we built it
We used react, express, and javscript. We used firebase for storage of accounts. We connected to the spotify API to lookup songs.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble connecting to the spotify api, implemening a logout feature, and syncing a song queue for each independent session.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of using react for the first time and (after many hours) connecting to the spotify API. We implemented an account feature and pages with protected routes, and made a very nice ui.
What we learned
We learned that react functions are similar to javascript, but syntax is different. We also learned that completing a project in 24 hours is very difficult and planning & feasability is really important.
What's next for Song request System
We still have yet to use AI to analyze song BPM an rhythm, then make devices such as phones synch up with colours / patterns on the screen for performances.
