Inspiration

We all love to support small artists. We also have an artist in our group. We realized there are no advanced platforms for artists to display their artwork to the public market. We wanted to make a change and make more interactive platform for artists.

What it does

We’ve created a mobile application that connects artists, sponsors, and visitors. Artists can discover more opportunities to showcase their artworks, while sponsors can easily find talented artists. This platform is ideal for artists who don't know where to begin, as well as sponsors looking to host events. Visitors can also use the application to find exciting events.

How we built it

First we have created a react-native app which works on expo, and then made a back-end handler in nextjs then pushed it to vercel, to have our own cloud back-end provider. As for database we use tried to use drizzle at first but didn't work as expected. We switched to prisma instead. For storing we get our help from firebase, to make our lives easier.

Challenges we ran into

The first problem we stepped into was trying to find a good idea that has not been implemented before. In this era of technology, it is hard to find new technologies to help to make our lives easier. The second problem we had was more technical. On drizzle, we couldn't figure out why we couldn't get some IDs the way they are suppose to come. There was a scema mismatch. Third problem was cross server communication. We had one mobile application, one back-end for server requests and one for securing images. So we couldn't track down the issues.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of overcoming a really complicated system, and making as much as we can during the time. We also made a great team by communicating effectively and sharing new ideas.

What we learned

We should plan things more when starting a new project and we should choose more simple systems in this short period of time. We also learned how to think innovatively to solve and be aware of the problems around us.

What's next for SonderArt

We want to make this application more collaborative and global. We want this application to reach a bigger audience and offer all the young talented artists around an opportunity to express themselves through art.
