SONA Tutor
Inspiration
Learning English is difficult for many learners because they often memorize grammar without practicing real communication. I wanted to build a platform that helps learners gain confidence through structured lessons, guided practice, and meaningful AI feedback.
What it does
SONA Tutor is an AI-powered English learning platform that helps learners improve their communication skills step by step.
Key features include:
- Structured English lessons
- Real-life communication practice
- AI-powered answer feedback
- Speaking and interview practice
- Progress tracking
- Secure user accounts
The goal is to help learners move from basic English to confident real-world communication.
How I built it
SONA Tutor was built using:
- Next.js
- React
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- Supabase Authentication
- Vercel
- OpenAI GPT-5.5
- OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol
- OpenAI Codex
AI assisted with architecture, implementation, debugging, testing, and refinement, while I made the product decisions, reviewed the implementation, and completed the final deployment.
Challenges
The biggest challenges were creating a scalable lesson architecture, improving authentication flows, designing meaningful AI feedback, and preparing the application for production deployment.
Accomplishments
- Built a production-ready web application
- Designed a structured English learning system
- Created reusable lesson architecture
- Integrated AI-powered learning assistance
- Successfully deployed the application online
What I learned
This project strengthened my understanding of full-stack development, authentication, AI-assisted software development, and designing educational experiences that focus on real-world communication.
What's next
Future updates will include voice conversations, pronunciation evaluation, additional learning modules, more AI-powered practice, and expanded language-learning features.## Inspiration
