Inspiration

We wanted to make a cryptocurrency that still let you pay you're heating bill, by not using as much electricity

What it does

We tried to implement "proof-of-steak" instead of "proof of work" but we found a even faster way, but it probably compromises on security.

How we built it

We built it on replit using Python. We chose python because of the ease of networking. We also used a lot of Google.

Challenges we ran into

We can't test it in full because we don't have any servers to test it on, and replit was giving us strange errors

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to make a rudimentary prototype of StemCoin, and we also had to be creative on how we solved Python related problems

What we learned

We learned that if you try hard enough you can code a lot in just 24hrs, and also to never trust Python

What's next for StemCoin

We plan on adding public key, secret key security and make the server software so, it can behave just like Bitcoin, but without the electricity and environmental downsides
