The median homehold income is about $60,000 in the US. That leaves about 10.5% of Americans that live under the poverty rate in 2019. One in 10 Americans, can benefit using our app to search up more affordable housing solutions that would allow them to find a better alternative.
What it does
Gets user's housing information and called a database of information for the region of the user. Used data analytics to compare housing results and
How we built it
We used React.js with the antd and tsParticles library to create our front end development For backend, we called a Housing API We deployed our website on Heroku
Challenges we ran into
Something we ran into were getting used to front end development using React.js and finding different libraries to help build our project. We also were overwhelmed with the data that the API call gave us so we figured out a way to parse the data to make it more manageable (the API gave us over 5000 entries each time and about 40 IDs each)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Learning new ways to implement a website.
- Using data analytics to figure out what your home compares to others ## What we learned Learning how to time management, new web development skills, and working together with a team we were unfamiliar with!
What's next for Affordable Housing
We may plan to implement a newer design from this project. We will use our newfound skills to carry on to different projects, hackathons, and bring it to the workforce.
