Inspiration

We were inspired by modern day health tracking devices, such as Fitbits, Apple Watches, and physical health tracking tools. We took inspiration from them, but looked at a sense that isn’t yet tracked: Interoception--the internal state of human body.

What it does

Somatic tracks user's physical pain and takes in stressor information based on daily check-ins. It visualizes this data with a map and a chart that allows users to understand themselves better.

How we built it

We built this using Figma Make to bring our concept and vision to life.

Challenges we ran into

Working remote was challenging, we faced timezone issues, working conflicts, and sharing issues, however, by maintaining consistent communication through comment tool and live chat tool on FigJam Board, we were able to overcome these challenges.

What's next for Somatic

In the future, we plan to add various different check-in types to allow users to check-in in whatever language, whether that be visual, audio, or more, to describe their pain. This would make Somatic more inclusive to all. Since this is intended to be a mobile app, we could create a widget in the future, so that users can easily check-in without having to even open the application itself. Additionally, we could add more detailed heat maps and graphs to display and visualize the data better.
