Inspiration

Solvio was inspired by a simple but persistent problem we observed as students: learning English often stops once the class ends. Practice time is limited, feedback arrives late (or never), and most materials are static and one-size-fits-all. We wanted to build a system that could extend learning beyond the classroom while still supporting teachers instead of replacing them.

What it does

Solvio is an AI-powered English learning platform that automatically generates and evaluates writing, listening, and reading tasks. It personalizes content based on student level, provides instant feedback, and gives teachers clear insights into individual and class-wide progress. In short, it bridges the gap between home practice and school assessment.

How we built it

We built Solvio as a smart ecosystem powered by advanced AI technologies.
Large Language Models are used for content generation and writing analysis, Text-to-Speech models generate realistic listening tracks, and vision-based models are used for automated paper evaluation.

At a high level, the learning improvement loop can be seen as:

$$ \text{Learning Gain} = \text{Practice Frequency} \times \text{Feedback Quality} $$

Solvio focuses on maximizing both terms simultaneously.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was designing feedback that is both accurate and understandable for students at different levels. Another challenge was balancing automation with teacher control—making the system powerful without making it feel like a “black box.” Integrating multiple AI components into a smooth user experience also required careful iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building a system that can automatically evaluate student work, generate personalized content, and still remain teacher-friendly. Creating a unified dashboard that makes student progress easy to track was a major milestone for us.

What we learned

Through Solvio, we learned how to design AI systems for real educational needs, not just technical performance. We gained experience in prompt design, evaluation logic, and user-centered development, while also learning the importance of clarity and trust in AI-driven education tools.

What's next for Solvio

Next, we plan to add interactive dialogue bots, exam preparation modules (TOEFL/IELTS-style), and multi-language support. Our long-term goal is to make Solvio the global standard for smart, personalized language practice.
