Inspiration
We were inspired by novel Web3 blockchain technology, which provides a decentralized and secure approach to the World Wide Web. Degrees are easier than ever to forge, with the improvement of AI image generation platforms. Enforcement is difficult, as these novel methods must be detected. Universities can also be contacted to ensure that a degree was actually earned, but this requires significant effort on the part of both the institution and the employer. We decided to create degrees that can exist independently of any party, on the Web3 Solana Blockchain. NFTS are the perfect tool for this, as they are like "shared property" on the blockchain. cNFTS are a novel innovation on the Solana blockchain that are like NFTS, but cheaper and more efficient. For this reason, we chose cNFTs for our degrees.
What it does
When you complete a final exam for a given course hosted on the SolPoL platform, this platform automates the creation of a compressed NFT on behalf of the university that can be seen and verified by the employer. For this reason, we call this novel concept "Proof of Learning", and since it is hosted on the Solana blockchain, our project is called "SolPoL".
How we built it
We built from the ground up, starting with the backend integration into the Solana blockchain. We created a custom API that creates custom "degree cNFTs", which are the degrees that are created on behalf of the degree-granting institution. We moved to the frontend, which for now is just a set of several quizzes that each grant their own "degree". These degrees can be independently verified by going to a blockchain explorer, searching up the person that the degree was granted to, and verifying that the college/SolPoL actually granted the degree. You can login with your wallet, which is where your Solana assets are held, including any degrees granted.
Why it applies to CrabHack's tracks
This most obviously applies to the Solana track, because the Solana blockchain is an essential component of our project. It also applies to the Education track, because it attempts to rectify a pressing issue in higher education, which is degree forgery.
For these reasons, we feel that we should be considered for winner of either track, or potentially as overall winner.
Conclusion
Thank you for judging our project! The SolPoL team appreciates it :)
