Inspiration
All of us are pretty interested in investment and business / finance decisions. Pinak even wants to become an investment banker in the future, so we thought this competition would be a good way to dip our feet in the world of investments. We were inspired by all of the successful business people right now and how they make good investments for making money.
What it does
Our project is a low risk, medium yield portfolio for Karlsefni to meet his 300% return goal. We invested in a variety of private stocks in multiple sectors, as well as the housing market in Austin.
How we built it
We started by outlining our plan for investment, and where we wanted to put our money. We then scoured past trends and future projections for good stocks and markets to invest in.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled at the beginning to agree on an asset allocation strategy, but once we figured that out, it was smooth sailing from there.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Making our first comprehensive portfolio for investment, even if it is only for a fictional character.
What we learned
Making investments and deciding what to put your future in is not as easy as picking the best looking stocks on the market. You have to do a comprehensive analysis about the past and future of a stock or investment.
What's next for Solon
Hopefully competing in more hackathons and winning one.
