💙 Solomate – Because Some Moments Are Meant to Be Shared

In today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected world, many people still find themselves quietly alone not by choice, but by circumstance. Whether it’s a student in a new city, a solo traveler navigating unfamiliar streets, or a working professional far from home, solo living often brings emotional isolation that doesn’t get talked about. That’s where 'Solomate' comes in a thoughtfully designed companion platform that helps solo-living individuals connect with like-minded people for simple, everyday experiences.

🤝 A Platform Inspired by Real Life

The idea behind 'Solomate' came from our own experiences, those moments of wanting to grab coffee, go for a walk, or hit the gym, but hesitating because we had no one to share it with. We realized many around us felt the same way. That insight led us to build 'Solomate' as a safe, no-pressure space to find temporary companionship for life’s little moments. It’s not about dating or networking, it’s about shared presence, even if it’s just for an hour.

🛠 Built with Empathy and Trust

Our biggest goal was to create not just a product, but a comfortable space. We focused on personalized profiles, interest-based discovery, trust ratings, and a simple chat flow, removing awkwardness and making connection feel natural. Designed in Figma and developed using Bolt with Supabase as data management and Netlify for Deployment. The platform is clean, intuitive, and respectful of personal boundaries. Every feature was added with the question in mind: Will this help someone feel less alone today?

Solomate isn’t just a social tool; it’s a quiet response to a growing modern reality. It’s a gentle bridge between independence and community, reminding users that they’re never truly alone. Whether it’s making a new friend, finding a local buddy, or simply sharing a walk, Solomate brings people together in small, meaningful ways. Our mission is simple yet powerful: To spark real-world connection, one shared moment at a time.

💪Challenges We Faced

During our development journey, one of the major challenges we encountered was dealing with recurring errors and debugging issues. A significant portion of our development tokens was spent resolving these errors, which often slowed down progress and tested our patience. However, one feature that proved incredibly helpful was Bolt’s built-in discussion support, which allowed us to quickly seek guidance, clarify doubts, and stay on track. This collaborative support system played a key role in helping us overcome technical roadblocks and continue building with confidence.
