Inspiration

Solo freelancers often do great work, but managing the business side can quickly become stressful. Clients are in one place, quotes are in another, invoices are tracked separately, and follow-ups often depend on memory. I wanted to build something that helps a freelancer stay organized without needing five different tools.

That became the idea for SOLODESK-pro: a simple AI business cockpit for freelancers to manage clients, quotes, projects, invoices, goals, and follow-ups from one place.

What it does

SOLODESK-pro helps solo freelancers run their small business more clearly. It includes:

  • A dashboard with revenue, unpaid invoices, active clients, project status, and income goal progress
  • Client management with contact details and client history
  • Quote tracking and project management
  • Invoice tracking with paid, unpaid, and overdue statuses
  • Follow-up message generation for invoices, quotes, projects, thank-you notes, and retainer offers
  • A History page that records important actions across the app
  • Settings for country, language, mobile number, currency, theme, goals, and business preferences

One feature I focused on was currency clarity. Users can choose their default currency, see the currency used for their monthly income goal, and preview conversions such as “$100 USD = €86 EUR” before saving changes.

How I built it with MeDo

I built SOLODESK-pro by guiding MeDo through several prompts instead of trying to create everything in one step. First, I asked MeDo to generate the full-stack dashboard app with the main pages: Dashboard, Clients, Quotes, Projects, Invoices, Follow-ups, History, and Settings.

After the first version worked, I used follow-up prompts to improve the main freelancer workflow: creating a client, making a quote, turning it into a project, tracking milestones, creating invoices, updating payment status, and showing smart follow-up suggestions.

I also used MeDo to iterate on smaller details that made the app feel more complete, like global settings, currency conversion, mobile country codes, theme switching, follow-up message templates, and the History timeline.

What makes it different

SOLODESK-pro is not just a simple CRM or invoice tracker. The goal was to make it feel like a command centre that helps freelancers know what to do next.

The app combines business tracking with useful guidance:

  • It shows what needs attention
  • It keeps a history of important actions
  • It helps create follow-up messages
  • It supports different countries, currencies, and user preferences
  • It connects goals, invoices, and dashboard insights in one workflow

Challenges

The biggest challenge was making the app useful without making it confusing. There were many possible features, but too many pages or controls could overwhelm users. I focused on keeping the navigation simple and putting the most important information on the dashboard.

Another challenge was currency behaviour. I did not want the app to only change the symbol from dollars to euros or rupees. I wanted users to understand when values were actually converted, so I added clearer helper text and conversion previews.

What I learned

I learned that building with an AI app builder works best when the prompts are specific and step-by-step. A broad prompt can create the first version, but the real improvement comes from testing the app, finding what feels confusing, and asking MeDo to fix one thing at a time.

I also learned that a good hackathon project does not need to be the biggest app. It needs to solve a clear problem, have a smooth user flow, and feel understandable when someone opens it for the first time.

What's next

Next, I would add real payment integrations, calendar sync, PDF invoice export, client portals, and deeper AI business insights based on revenue trends and client behaviour.
