The idea is to have a standup for your project with yourself.
Standup meetings increase productivity, the team’s involvement, boost team cohesion and are more dynamic.
Having a solo standup meeting will help you prepare for your pitch and increase your confidence.
The website provides you with a prompt to answer questions based on your progress with a project. After you are done with the process, the questions and answers are displayed in a table. You can also send yourself an email to inspire yourself.
Inspiration
We were inspired by the concept of the standup meeting, which is a short regular meeting that asks meeting attenders what they have accomplished since the last standup meeting, what they are going to work on next, and if they need any help.
What it does
It is a 3 page form, one for each question, and then with a "Done" page where the questions and their answers are listed. There is also an option to email the results to someone, which generates a mailto link.
How we built it
Solo Standup is a frontend only project, and we used React for the frontend.
Challenges we ran into
It was the first time learning React for two of us, and we had had to develop our project really quickly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to work despite being in different timezones. One person was in PST, another person was in EST, and the last team member was in IST. Additionally, we are proud that we were able to develop this project in 12 hours despite one team member having to leave due to personal issues.
What we learned
We learned about React, specifically how to deal with interactivity and states.
What's next for Solo Standup
We are planning to integrate video recording functionality, so the user would be able to record daily standups through video. We are also planning to do a login system, so the daily standup results can be saved for each specific user.
