Inspiration:
We were inspired by how communication systems often fail during disasters when internet access is lost. We wanted to build a solution that still allows people nearby to stay informed and connected. SafeLink focuses on maintaining communication even in such critical situations.
What it does:
We were inspired by how communication systems often fail during disasters when internet access is lost. We wanted to build a solution that still allows people nearby to stay informed and connected. SafeLink focuses on maintaining communication even in such critical situations.
How we built it:
SafeLink is an offline disaster alert system that works over a local network without internet. It detects potential risks using simulated sensor inputs and instantly shares alerts with nearby devices. This ensures real-time communication during emergencies.
Challenges we ran into:
We initially considered using Bluetooth, but it was complex and unreliable for our use case. Setting up real-time communication across devices on a local network also required careful debugging. Ensuring a smooth and responsive UI was another challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
We initially considered using Bluetooth, but it was complex and unreliable for our use case. Setting up real-time communication across devices on a local network also required careful debugging. Ensuring a smooth and responsive UI was another challenge.
What we learned:
We successfully built a working multi-device system that operates without internet. The real-time alert propagation across devices was a major milestone. We also created a clean and intuitive interface for better usability.
What's next for Solo Leveling:
We plan to extend SafeLink using mesh networking so devices can communicate even without a central server. Integrating real IoT sensors and improving scalability are also future goals. We also aim to make it usable in real-world disaster scenarios.
