Many home solar users receive dashboards full of graphs and numbers, but they still don’t know one simple thing:
What should I do right now to improve my solar performance?

Because of confusing metrics, lack of trust indicators, and no comparison with nearby systems, solar panels often operate below optimal efficiency without users realizing it.

Smart Solar Guardian was inspired by this gap — turning raw solar data into clear actions, trust, and local context for everyday users.

What it does

Smart Solar Guardian is an AI-powered solar assistant that helps homeowners:

  • Understand the health of their solar system using a simple Trust Score (0–100).
  • Receive step-by-step actionable guidance instead of raw alerts.
  • Compare performance with nearby homes anonymously.
  • Take timely actions to improve efficiency and sustainability. Instead of dashboards, it focuses on decision-making.

How we built it:

We used Gemini AI as the reasoning engine to:

  • Interpret multimodal inputs (solar data, images, weather).
  • Predict expected energy generation.
  • Generate human-friendly explanations and actions.

A web dashboard presents insights clearly, while alerts are delivered via WhatsApp for timely intervention.

Challenges we ran into:

Converting complex solar metrics into simple trust indicators.

  • Creating community comparisons without exposing user data.
