Inspiration

The best way to help during this contingency due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is to show empathy and solidarity for the other. In Colombia, unfortunately, the health system is not very good. In a few days the emergency lines have already collapsed. The government has declared a national quarantine and this can affect the physical and mental health of many people. At our company Tridiam Studios, we realized that from our profession we can help people connect with volunteer health professionals.

What it does

Informs: only from official sources, to avoid disinformation and unnecessary panic in society. Prevents: Informing the community about prevention measures to avoid catching or spreading the virus and take care of each other. Report: From your home you can know if the symptoms you have require medical attention in clinic or can be treated at home, following the prevention and isolation measures. Ask questions: You will be able to ask questions about COVID-19, general medicine, pediatrics, psychology or psychiatry that will be attended by VOLUNTEER health professionals. Appointments: Solidariapp allows you to request a consultation by video call with VOLUNTEER doctors, pediatricians, psychologists and psychiatrists, so that you avoid going to a medical center, reduce the possibilities of spreading the contagion and not saturate our health system.

Solidariapp volunteers will be all those doctors, pediatricians, psychologists and psychiatrists who are at home and want to contribute to this situation from their profession. They will not have to have full time or meet specific schedules, just dedicate the time they can contribute. They only have to enter our platform and they can answer the questions of the patients or schedule the consultations by video call for the day and time they want.

How we built it

We developed a cross-platform application in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript in the frontend, and MySQL and PHP in the backend. We compile the mobile application using Cordova.

Challenges we ran into

We have not been able to publish the application in the Apple App Store or Google Play, since apparently only government or medical entities can publish this type of application at this time. So, we decided to make it for the web, and we are trying to contact the government so they can use it. If we classify in this hackathon it will be easier to reach them and millions of people can use the mobile app instead just web.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We developed the complete platform, from idea to publication in just five days. Taking into account that we should also continue developing our clients' projects. We practically develop during the nights. I am very proud of my team and the really big heart they have.

What we learned

We have been app developers for many years. But, this pandemic has opened our eyes, and has shown us that what is really important is people. We have the possibility to help. So why not do it? Surely this will not be the last project of this type that we will develop.

What's next for Solidariapp - Está en tus manos

While the pandemic lasts and the time of isolation, we will try to reach the largest number of people, and have many volunteer health professionals, who will be able to help from their homes, to all those who require any medical consultation, be by COVID- 19, general medicine, pediatrics or psychology.

But when we overcome this situation, our idea is to evolve the project and turn it into a worldwide platform where volunteer health professionals can dedicate a few hours of their time, to help people who do not have easy access to health services.
