Inspiration

Our inspiration came from our clients, mostly B2B companies, for whom we kept building themes from scratch every time a website update opportunity came along. This helped us a lot in learning the particularities of a HubSpot theme, but we figured out that building our own product will be a good opportunity to optimize the workload, and also to share it with the rest of the world to enjoy it.

Our goal with this theme was to build a fully customizable and comprehensive theme that will enable marketers to create any page they need, while keeping the theme easy to use and edit, so they don’t require help from a designer or developer.

What it does

You can customize your new website as much as you like, both on a global level (through the Theme settings that apply to the entire website) as well as on a module level (using our Custom style feature).

We went in-depth with the customization options: you can edit colors, fonts, button styles, titles, backgrounds, spacings, adjust the number of columns for the more complex modules, and much more. So the end result feels like your own unique branding, even if it’s built with an out-of-box theme. The 44 modules included in the theme cover the most requested B2B website’s functionalities, from pricing cards, testimonial sliders, results, process, features table and more.

How we built it

We’ve built this theme with B2B marketers in mind, aimed at conversion and lead generation.

We started by considering the functionalities needed in a B2B website and used them as the basis for creating the theme’s modules. We’ve looked at previous websites we developed and the requirements we typically see our clients ask for.

We then continued with the wireframe of the demo website, and moved on to the design of the actual modules & pages. Our desire was to be able to combine any modules in a way that they fit perfectly together to create unique pages. And I think we’ve achieved that.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we had was the timeframe, as we always kept coming up with new ideas and it was difficult to prioritize. In the end, we’ve decided to have a close to perfect final version, with the plan to make constant updates in the future.

Also, another challenge was the fact that we had to adopt a generalized approach because we were building a theme, and not a specific website for a specific client.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of the fact that we’ve made everything as flexible as possible and tried to avoid static values. The theme settings don’t always fully apply to your entire website. Therefore, for a perfect result, we’ve built the ‘Custom style’ feature for each module, a feature that when turned on, overrides the theme settings and lets you pivot from the global settings of the website.

What we learned

We’ve learned a lot about the HubSpot theme settings (fields.json), HubL functions, module level customizations etc.

What's next for Solid B2B Theme

Gather feedback from clients and make constant updates and improvements to this current version. Of course, the theme will undergo constant testing from our team as well.

Another step would be to have a pro version for the Solid B2B theme, with more premium features (such as a pillar page, for example).
