Inspiration
Frequent power outages and loadshedding disrupt the daily lives of households, highlighting the need for reliable and sustainable energy solutions. Inspired by the potential of solar energy and community-driven initiatives, we set out to create an innovative platform that leverages surplus solar power to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, especially during critical times.
What it does
SolarLink: PowerConnect bridges the gap between households and stakeholders, such as retail shops with solar panels, during power outages. The app will enable households to purchase electricity credits from registered stakeholders, allowing them to receive solar energy when needed. It facilitates the transfer of electricity from stakeholders' solar panels to consumers' households, providing a reliable and sustainable alternative power source.
How we built it
The application will initially be built as a web application using various modern technologies. For the frontend, we are using React.js to create a responsive and user-friendly interface. As time goes, it will be made into a mobile application.
Challenges we ran into
The primary challenge we encountered was choosing the right languages and frameworks to build this application. With numerous options available, it was crucial to select technologies that would provide the best performance, scalability, and security while being flexible enough to adapt to future enhancements. We also faced challenges with making the contact support page work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we have started designing the application, laying a solid foundation for what promises to be a transformative solution. This initial phase involved extensive research and planning, ensuring that our design not only meets the current needs of consumers and stakeholders but is also scalable for future growth.
