Inspiration

The urgent need to combat climate change and to reduce the dependence of fossil fuels and emissions of greenhouse gases is what inspired us to introduce this project.

What it does

When an electric vehicle equipped with compatible wireless charging technology parks over or near the charging station, the system automatically begins charging the EV's battery. The energy is transferred wirelessly, making the charging process effortless and convenient for the user.

How we built it

A suitable location is selected based on sunlight exposure, accessibility and safety. The solar panels which are installed on the platform of the chosen location is then connected to inverters to convert DC solar energy into AC electricity. Wireless charging coils which are installed on the ground is connected to the AC power source and the charging system is connected to the solar power source. Electrical meters and monitoring systems can be installed to track energy usage and performance.

Challenges we ran into

Wireless power transfer, availability of solar energy during cloudy days and night-time and efficient energy transfer are some of the challenges that might me encountered.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A functional system comprising of solar energy, wireless charging and EV technology demonstrates innovation. Moreover the emission of greenhouse gases and dependence on fossil fuels can be reduced thereby providing a clean and renewable energy source for EVs.

What we learned

Our team gained technical expertise in renewable energy, wireless power transfer and electrical engineering and also emphasized the importance of teamwork and improved our problem solving skill.

What's next for Solar Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging System

Advances in wireless charging technology will likely lead to even higher efficiency rates, reducing energy losses during transfer and making the charging process more sustainable.
