Solar Tales

Inspiration

What if Star Wars could have an interactive part ? What if the fans could take part in shaping the destiny of the Galaxy ? Since I have begun to create the Solars, a science fiction universe, I have always wanted to add an interactivity element to it. Bolt and this contest gave me to opportunity to build its first version. I am also inspired by innovative voting systems that we see in blockchains.

What it does

The Solar Tales web module enables the viewer to discover characters and story fragments from the Solar narrative universe. It also give an opportunity to shape the story by voting on specific questions. But it is not a classic choice, you are actually part of a Parliament of the future.

How I built it

I used Figma, Supabase and of course Bolt. I also gave designing the whole idea a fair share of time, as it is in my opinion one of the most interesting step. I refined the design and implementations directly in Bolt. The characters images where previously made with Midjourney.

Challenges I ran into

• Learning in a short time different tools as well as the development logic to make them work together.
• innovation in storytelling design.
• creating with a different medium (i usually focus on writing, visuals and videos)
• the design part, thinking the intention and setting the right scope for the Alpha version is probably the most challenging of all.
• Two times I had to struggle with bugs that were more difficult to solve, but Bolt lead me so that I could help him solve them. ## Accomplishments that I'm proud of It's only an alpha version, but I can feel that it can be very fun to develop this voting concept.

What I learned

So many things ! Here are the main ones :

• Creating a database can be a great addition for a narrative universe
• When confronted to a dysfonctionnement, ask the AI the more open question possible. The problem might come from a slight misunderstanding rather than a bug.
• Vibe coding is very efficient !

What's next for Solar Tales

There is a lot to come. I am thinking of integrating this module with blockchain, and potentially a decentralized social network such as Farcaster to expend it with social features. Another direction, equally important, is to make a version that could be used in addition of in real life events, for example narrative experiments for cities. This could initiate the children and teenagers to vote in a fun way.
