Inspiration

There are many different websites that exist online that can inform you on what stocks to buy. However, all of them have drawbacks. Some websites don't tell you everything you should know about your stock. The information that they may display regarding your stock of interest may not be enough information for you or doesn't include the information that is important for the user to make a decision about what to do with your stock. Additionally, even if that website may show the user all of the necessary information about your stock, it may not allow you to buy the stock through them. Instead, the user would need to go to a different website and buy through them, making the number of items to be in charge of more than expected. That is where our dashboard comes into play. Our dashboard allows for user to both be able to access any and all information regarding their stock as well as buy the stock through Solana.

What it does

  • reference video Solana is a cryptocurrency and a block chain software, making it fast, reliable, and have low transaction fees.

Gemini makes a comprehensive list of information regarding the stock, including information like (--). Based on this, it creates a summary that englishifies the results into something that is more understandable for the user to comprehend. Afterwards,

How we built it

  • github for version control
  • used vs code for IDE
  • python and typescript are the most used languages
  • Jupiter to facilitate Solana transactions
  • Solana for trades
  • Trade by paying USDC => Stock ownership defined by Solana currency

Github was used for version control and we used VS Code for IDE Additionally, Python and Typescript were used for the packages and are the most used languages within our model. When generating the stock data, it was obtained from Yahoo finance (Yfinance), a package in Python with Gemini analyzing the data and determine what to do with the stock. Jupiter facilitates the trade between the user and Solana, working as a sort of middle man, and Solana allows for trading stocks using Solana

Challenges we ran into

A problem we ran into was the version of Gemini. The code was built using the 2.5 version of Gemini. However, when trying to generate an API key nowadays, it is all in a 3.8 flash version. Therefore, any new users who haven't made API keys using Gemini wouldn't be able run the program properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to implement Gemini, with a software that we hadn't used as much before, like Solana and Jupiter.

Additionally, as a note, after the stocks are bought in USD, they are held in Solana as Solana currency. Therefore, when trying to sell the stock, it would incur less transaction fees.

What we learned

We learned how to use Jupiter and how to implement Solana.

What's next for Solana STOCKer

  • more advanced decision systems for buy/hold/sell conclusions
  • predictive modeling for future stock prices
  • possible option trading

Note: In the demo video we didn't actually trade funds because we didn't have enough money to do so, but transaction will go through if wallet and private key is set up correctly.
