Inspiration
Mental health is often overlooked in our fast-paced digital lives. While journaling and therapy are powerful tools, many people lack access or motivation to regularly reflect on their emotional state. We wanted to create a gentle, always-available companion that could guide users to better emotional clarity, through conversation, mindfulness, and consistent self-tracking.
Solace was born from the belief that every person deserves a safe, judgment-free space to feel and heal anytime, anywhere.
What it does
Solace is an AI-powered conversational wellness coach that helps users:
- Log their daily moods with emotional notes
- Visualize emotional trends over time using color-coded charts
- Explore their mood history with timestamps and written reflections
- Access practical mindfulness exercises like breathing, walking, or sleep routines
- Receive daily wellness tips for emotional regulation
- Chat with a thoughtful, empathetic AI that engages like a caring companion
It creates a holistic space that supports both emotional tracking and personal growth, all from a clean and unified dashboard.
How we built it
We built Solace using Bolt.new, and deployed using Netlify. Key elements include:
- Mood tracking system with daily logging and emotional descriptors
- Data visualization using dynamic mood charts and summary views
- Interactive content sections for mindfulness tips and guided exercises
- An AI chat interface leveraging support and responsiveness for emotionally intelligent conversation
The user interface was designed with simplicity and warmth in mind, using visual cues (like color-coded moods) to enhance emotional engagement.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing an AI conversation flow that feels emotionally sensitive rather than robotic.
- Building a meaningful mood history system that doesn’t overwhelm the user but still provides insight.
- Balancing clean UI/UX with rich content making the experience supportive but not cluttered.
- Ensuring the AI support and suggestions don’t sound generic but instead provide true comfort and understanding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Creating a truly empathetic AI chat experience that one can say “feels like being hugged.”
- Integrating mindfulness tools + mood tracking + chat all into one dashboard, most apps only do one or two.
- Designing a system that’s easy to use daily, even for users struggling with low energy or mental fatigue.
- Building this all in record time with no-code tool, showcasing that deep impact doesn’t always need deep stacks.
What we learned
- Emotional wellness tools need to be gentle, non-judgmental, and intuitive, or they risk going unused.
- Tone and microcopy matter as much as technical features when dealing with mental health.
- AI, when combined with empathy-driven design, can offer genuine comfort and support.
- Even within constraints, we can build something that truly touches users on a human level.
What's next for Solace – Conversational Wellness Coach
I plan to:
- Add custom mood tags and allow users to define their own emotional labels.
- Introduce streaks, daily challenges, and reminders to encourage consistency.
- Integrate session memory in AI chats to allow continuity and more personalized feedback.
- Allow users to export emotional reports for personal reflection or therapy sharing.
- Launch a mobile-first version and explore offline journaling modes.
- Integrate voice assisted chat assistant
