Inspiration: Every morning across Nigeria, thousands of sellers wake up before sunrise, set up their stalls, and spend the whole day hustling. They know their customers by name. They remember birthdays, usual orders, and who still owes them from last week all in their head.
I grew up seeing this. My aunty selling in her kiosk at the corner. The man running the provisions store. The woman who sells rice and knows every customer's family by name. These people are running real businesses but nobody ever built tools for them.
Everything out there HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho costs hundreds of dollars a month and requires a laptop and a degree to operate. That was never built for the market seller. It was never even built with them in mind.
That broke my heart a little becausedo forget debtors sometimes and lose track of them. And it made me angry enough to build something
What it does:
SokoTrack is a mobile-first CRM application built specifically for informal market sellers the tomato seller, the provisions store owner, the grain trader, the mama put. The people who run real businesses but have never had real business tools.
Here is everything SokoTrack does:
Onboarding in 60 seconds When a seller opens SokoTrack for the first time, they enter their name, their store name, and choose their currency. From that moment the app belongs to them. It greets them by name every time they open it. It feels like their app because it is.
Customer Management Every customer saved with their name, phone number, and preferred products. Tap any customer to edit their details or view their full purchase history. No more remembering faces without names. No more phone numbers written on paper that gets wet in the rain.
Voice-to-Sale A seller is weighing tomatoes with both hands and a customer just paid. They hold one button and say "Mary bought tomatoes, 500 naira." They release. The form fills itself automatically using Web Speech API customer name, item, and amount all extracted from natural speech. They tap confirm. Sale recorded in 4 seconds. No stopping. No typing. No losing the record.
Sales Dashboard For the first time a market seller can answer: which day do I make the most money? How much did I make this week? The dashboard shows total weekly sales, today's revenue, total customers, and a live bar chart of daily sales for the week. Business intelligence that used to belong only to big companies now in every seller's pocket.
AI-Generated Insights SokoTrack analyzes sales patterns and tells the seller actionable things like "You sell more on Fridays stock up Thursdays." Real advice. From their own data. Automatically.
Smart Follow-ups with WhatsApp Mary used to buy every week. She hasn't come in 16 days. Without SokoTrack the seller never notices. With SokoTrack, Mary's card turns red on the Follow-ups tab. The seller taps one button. WhatsApp opens with a message already typed: "Hi Mary, we have fresh tomatoes today come check us out!" She just hits send. Mary comes back. That's real money recovered from a customer who was about to be lost forever.
Debtors Tracker Customers who say "I'll pay tomorrow" and disappear — SokoTrack tracks every single one. Log a debt when a customer doesn't pay. See the total amount owed on your dashboard. Send a WhatsApp payment reminder in one tap. When they finally pay, mark it as paid and it moves to your sales history automatically.
Sales History Every transaction ever recorded, in one place, newest first. If a customer disputes a price you have proof. If you need to do your accounts it's all there.
Multi-Currency Support SokoTrack works for sellers in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, UK and beyond. Choose your currency during onboarding — NGN, KSh, GHS, UGX, ZAR, £, $ — and it applies everywhere across the entire app.
Persistent Cloud Database Every customer, every sale, every debt saved permanently to the cloud. Close the app, open it tomorrow, everything is still there. Nothing is ever lost.
SokoTrack doesn't feel like a hackathon project. It feels like a real product that a real seller can download and use tomorrow morning before their stall opens.
Every big company has a CRM. Now every market seller does too.
How we built it: I built SokoTrack using MeDo from start to finish no laptop, no code editor, just natural language prompts on my phone. I used MeDo's deep build feature to generate the full stack: frontend, backend, cloud database, and all business logic. Every feature was refined through multi-turn conversations with MeDo until it felt right.
Voice input. Debt tracking. WhatsApp follow-ups. AI insights. All of it built from a phone, in days, for the people who needed it most.
Challenges we ran into: The hardest part wasn't technical. It was emotional constantly asking myself "is this good enough?" every time something broke or an error appeared.
On the technical side, getting the Web Speech API to correctly parse natural spoken language into structured fields was the biggest challenge. A seller might say "Mary took tomatoes, give am 500" and the app needs to understand that. Getting that right took patience and careful prompt engineering.
But every time I thought about the seller this was built for I kept going and made sure this app is properly built.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
I am proud that SokoTrack is not a demo. It is a real product.
I am proud that I built a fully functional CRM with voice input, AI insights, WhatsApp integration, debt tracking, follow-up automation, multi-currency support, and persistent cloud database entirely from my phone, with no laptop, using only MeDo.
I am proud that when you open SokoTrack it greets you by name. It remembers your customers. It tracks your money. It tells you who owes you. It warns you before you lose a customer. It gives you advice based on your own data.
I am proud that I built something for the people who are always forgotten when technology is built the market seller, the street vendor, the small trader hustling every single day.
Most of all I am proud that I shipped it. From idea to fully working product, built on a phone, in days. That means something.
What we learned: I learned that the most powerful products aren't always the most complex ones. SokoTrack has no fancy AI model, no blockchain, no complicated infrastructure. It just solves one real problem for one real person and that's enough.
I also learned that you don't need a laptop, a team, or a computer science degree to build something meaningful. I built SokoTrack entirely from my phone. Just me, MeDo, and a problem I refused to ignore.
What's next for Soko Track: SokoTrack is just getting started. Here is what comes next:
SMS notifications: Follow-up reminders sent automatically without opening the app.
Inventory management: track stock levels and get alerts when you're running low.
Offline mode: works without internet, syncs when connection returns.
-Multi-language support: Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Swahili, Pidgin etc.
Group savings (Ajo/Esusu): built-in rotating savings tracker for seller communities.
Sales reports: weekly and monthly PDF reports the seller can share with their family or a microfinance lender.
Microfinance integration: use SokoTrack sales history as proof of income for small business loans.
The dream is simple every informal market seller in Africa and beyond has a tool that works for them, speaks their language, and helps them grow.
SokoTrack is that tool.
