Soko is a Swahili word & means market. Africa is blessed with products e.g., organic food crops, cash crops and natural resources, etc. We can showcase these products in one online store called Soko.

Inspiration

Soko is a Swahili word literally translated to mean Market and as an Africa, we're really blessed to have a wide variety of products ranging from fresh organic foods, cash crops like cashew nuts, cotton, coffee, Cocoa, Fresh Vanilla, Red Bird eye chillies, etc., and to natural resources like gold in the Congo, copper, iron, oil & gas, etc., and yet the other continents still define us as the poorest continent on the globe! We can put an end to this by showcasing the massive variety of African products in one store that we have in an online available ready market which can be accessed anywhere by anyone looking for an African product on the globe.

What it does

Soko means a lot for a struggling continent, Africa. It will allow the local people to market their products locally and globally in one well-organised online market place hence widening the global market for African products.

Challenges I ran into

Data collection from the fifty-four countries might turn difficult due to language and cultural backgrounds Financial constraints to facilitate the whole process Human resource as a source of information might turn out to be hard during a gathering of the data necessary Device Shortage like smartphones, laptops, etc. to test the product in every stage of development. Internet data in my country is a big shame on the continent. Service providers just bank the money with very poor services as broad daylight theft. This is such a serious issue here! I have visited on several occasions the service providers raising complaints on which when you purchase internet data, they send you a purchase message but they don't send you the data you've purchased. This discourages development a lot here. I don't know about other countries, maybe they are okay.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am able to use React Js for Project development, Material UI for Icons, CSS and HTML for style and App Structure respectively

What I learned

I Learnt to build a complete app for production from scratch

What's next for Soko

Need sponsorship to move to the next level of Research and marketing for App public usage.
