Inspiration

The farmers are facing a lot of challenges for getting soil nutrient analysis and due this the agricultural production of their field is also decreasing. This inspired us for making a portable soil testing kit for the farmers which would help the farmers to perform soil analysis in the field itself.

What it does

Our soil testing kit provides the data of soil nutrients (N, P, K) and the humidity content of the soil. As this kit is portable it is convenient for the farmers to perform soil analysis in the field and as it is based on sensors, so it provides the soil analysis data with optimum accuracy.

How we built it

Here we are using NPK and humidity sensors for the soil nutrient analysis and this is integrated with the Arduino board which will show the results of soil nutrient analysis.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in collecting review of farmers over the problems they are facing for doing soil nutrient analysis and their opinion regarding soil nutrient analysis.

What we learned

We have done literature review of more than 50 journals and research paper regarding soil analysis and smart agriculture based on IOT. We have studied the working of sensors and their principles and its integration with Arduino.

What's next for Soil Testing Kit

We are planning to provide Wi-Fi module in the Arduino which will connect to the cloud server database where the data of soil analysis will get stored, and the farmers could access the results of the soil analysis through our application.
