Inspiration
The inspiration for this project came from the challenges faced by farmers in managing irrigation efficiently. Many farmers do not have access to real-time soil data, which leads to overwatering or underwatering of crops.
What it does
The Soil Moisture Tester measures the moisture level in the soil and provides real-time feedback. It helps users understand when watering is required, ensuring optimal plant growth and water conservation.
How I built it
The system is built using a soil moisture sensor connected to a microcontroller (Arduino). The sensor detects moisture levels in the soil and sends data to the controller, which processes and displays the result.
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges was calibrating the sensor to get accurate readings. Another challenge was ensuring proper connections and stable output from the hardware components.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I successfully built a working prototype that can detect soil moisture accurately. The project demonstrates a practical solution for smart irrigation.
What I learned
I learned about sensors, microcontrollers, and how hardware interacts with software. I also gained experience in problem-solving and debugging real-world systems.
What's next for SOIL MOISTURE TESTER
In the future, this project can be enhanced by integrating IoT technology to monitor soil moisture remotely using a mobile app. Automatic irrigation systems can also be added.
