Inspiration

Personally, I have been very unsuccessful with gardening. I have no clue about the correct percentage of water to put and how much is good for each plant. This problem made me think of creating a soil moisture sensor. Through this, I would be able to exactly know when the water in each respective soil compound is just right.

What it does

It detects the amount of moisture in the soil and prints the value to the console.

How we built it

I built it using a breadboard, dupoint wires, a potentiometer, arduino uno, and a soil moisture sensor.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges I ran into was being able to connect the code to the arduino uno. It took me many attempts to be able to configure the computer with the arduino uno and solve all the initialization errors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I was able to finally print the soil moisture percentages to the console. I am also proud about the fact that I made the machine capable of detecting the soil moisture percentages for different compounds accurately.

What we learned

I learned about how different charges work on a breadboard, the algorithms needed to help the machine correctly function, how to configure an arduino uno, and the different components associated with a soil moisture sensor.
