Inspiration
Needed a defect managenet tool that was free of cost as HP quality center is way too pricey. Also needed it to be simple which could run on any machine which the need to be compiled again and again.
How it works
I decided to use VBA and macro in an excel file for this. It has a GUI for logging, modifying, and managing defects.
Challenges I ran into
User based access to some fields. However, I figured a smart way to achieve it in excel.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
It was used in for 6 months with and approximate dollar saving of $10,000
What I learned
I learned how powerful VBA can be.
What's next for Software Incident Tracker Tool
Next version to enhance it and add feature like attachments, URL linkage etc.
