Inspiration

I have had countless achievements in my life, but also countless failures. Most of my failures were due to getting sidetracked, derailed, and losing track of what I truly wanted to achieve.

The idea for socra started with a simple yet profound question: “What do I need to do today to achieve my long-term goals in the future?" Imagine how much time and effort I could save if I had a system that would help me plan, track, and navigate my goals from start to finish.

So, in August 2022, I quit my job as an R&D program manager at a unicorn to start socra - a platform to help people crush their goals. There's a reason the tagline says "crush" and not "achieve". socra is not a habit-tracker, not a to-do list, not a note-taking app, but your second brain on your journey to success. Then, ChatGPT came out at the perfect time! Two years later, I can't stop using this tool and the vision has been augmented, now we will have AI agents working alongside us to help us achieve our goals.

What it does

We're the collaborative AI platform for ambitious individuals and teams. On socra, users brainstorm, set goals, track progress, make decisions, and improve. AI agents act as part of your team, helping you achieve your goals.

socra offers functionalities from typical productivity and knowledge-sharing tools like Slack, Notion, Jira, and Google Drive, all in one centralized, intuitive interface. Combine that with AI agents that function like team members, and now you can tackle every project, problem, and challenge on socra and crush your goals.

How I built it

I built it with my husband. Thank God for him because I didn't know anything about software before starting this journey. He is also self-taught, but I consider him a master since he has written over one million lines of code for socra. We've learned a lot since then, and we're currently building in public. If you want to see the details of how we're building, much of it is public on our platform. Talk about dogfooding... Here's an example of a thread feature we're building today.

Challenges I ran into

We've encountered hundreds of challenges. Every single day we face new ones, but we're confident that at this point, it's just a matter of time until we solve them all. The biggest challenge we solved has been our database structure. We tried 10 different types of database structures until we finally nailed the right schema. At least we've learned a lot. For example, we now understand the limitations of tools like Notion because their blocks structure is one of the ten we explored.

I'm proud of building a platform that I love using myself.

What I learned

My biggest learning lesson was that just planning and tracking your goals isn't enough for you to actually succeed. There was a key missing piece in the original vision: taking action! The entire platform has been rebuilt to focus on that, and we have added and will continue to add more AI agents that work alongside, helping you take action and make progress. I also learned that EVERYTHING IS A HIERARCHY! PROGRAMMING IS JUST CATEGORIZATION.
