Hello fellow developers, vibe-coders, techies, and all in between. This is Darshan M, a 14 yr old techie student from Tamil Nadu, India who has made 2 startups, 5 websites, and 2 Android Apps, completed IITM's SchoolConnect Data Science and AI Course with 88% Distinction, and that's all for now.
And, here is my project for Maximally's Vibe-a-thon 2025
What had actually inspired me to do this project?
What had inspired me to do this kind of project is my classmates or old friends, or my parents. Actually, forget it. Most of the people around me had inspired me to make this project.
Small story but, my friend and I have been teamed for a district level science exhibition ("Veetuku Oru Vingani" 2025 transl. "A Scientist for Every Home" in Tamil) at our school and we are about to present our project to a mini panel of judges. I was ready, but my friend wasn't, he was very nervous about how will we present the project. So I advised him to calm down, just stay confident, who knows if it is good or bad, at least we presented right, and just do not overdo or overthink it. After my advice, he did pretty well presenting. And after our presentation, I talked to the judges at the end of the competition, and they said that we presented so good, that we had bagged gold and a trip to the State Finals.
And after that competition, a thought popped up in my head. "What if I try to make an app that reduces others' insecurity and make them more confident socially?"
That is when SociBuild ignited in my cerebrum, and I thought about bringing this idea exposure, and what is a better way, than going to a hackathon, especially this one.
Ok then, how does it work?
This is SociBuild, an AI-powered social skills building app, that is designed to help improve your communication, confidence, body language, etc to make you a future-ready person in social terms.
There is a truckload of features in this app, so I'll tell all of the features in this app.
- AI-Powered Insights: Insights made by Gemini 3 Pro for the best advice on body language and communication.
- Course Learning Portal: A place to master many of the most important social skills as courses, tests, projects, etc.
- Interview Prep: Master your next interview with AI-generated questions and feedback.
- Digital Communication Lab: Practice emails and letters with AI feedback on tone and clarity.
- Behavior Decoder: Describe a situation, get an AI analysis of the social cues.
- Listening Dojo: Test your active listening skills with an interactive story.
- Community Hub: Socialize and improve your skills with others via chat and calls (like a mini Instagram).
- Recommended Scenarios: AI-generated scenarios with custom personas aiming to improve communication and language in real time situations for personal or work purposes (personal - first date small talk is an example, work - salary negotiation with manager)
- Daily Challenges or Mini Tasks: Mini goals to accomplish for real life situations and make some change in the personal behavior or social skills.
That's how it works.
How did we build SociBuild?
Since this is a vibe-coding hackathon, I purely used my brain and computer's brain thanks to Google AI Studio's New Software Builder powered by Google Gemini 3.5 Pro + Flash. I used my brain to ideate and iterate a project that is pretty innovative to me, until I found its competitors. So I had to brainstorm and find out about other features that no other kind of social skill builder has, and then use it to generate a purely great future-ready app. I tried to make some logos for the app, until I found the perfect logo and added it (a smile in the center of a circle having 4 parts - one at top showing idea lightbulb, one at right showing email, one at left showing user icon or person icon, one at bottom showing group of people) and given it, it made some changes, but it is great. It is designed to be a very easy to use app, so I had to make it super sight-readable and simple for all ages.
What are the issues we ran into?
I tried to make some logos or some kind of branding for the app, but it went wrong, and it gave some issues with generating the perfect format, but then I thought, this is vibe-coding right, so let it make a logo itself. So, I gave the instructions, and it made a perfect logo close to what I had made.
What are we proud of SociBuild for?
I am proud of getting such a great idea of the app, in my head to make one of my favorite projects of all time, and it came out really well, being more simpler than our competitors and more fun to use, due to its gamified learning path, and great color schemes throughout.
What we learned
I learned many things about the AI that is making this app. It can make many mistakes, and we cannot only give one input to make suddenly the perfect app that we wanted. And, I learned about adding more returning or extra responses to make the app perfect with a little bit of prompt engineering I learnt a while ago when participating for the Maximally PromptStorm. I also learned about the utilization of other programming languages inside making website apps (TypeScript, JSON).
What's next for SociBuild?
What is next? You.
It is up to the users and the people influenced by my platform, to ideate and bring their ideas with the confidence they learned from SociBuild. This is one of the first steps that I had made to create citizens and children future-ready and tech-ready.
Thank you everyone for your support and hope you enjoy SociBuild!
