Inspiration

The inspiration for SocialSync AI came from a real-life challenge my brothers and I faced. We had decided to start a gaming channel where we could share all the exciting games we played together. Playing the games was fun and easy — but the real struggle began after. Editing the videos, creating captions, and then posting them manually to multiple social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and others became frustrating and time-consuming.

That pain sparked a simple thought: What if there was just one app that could make the posting process easier? An app that could help us manage, schedule, and post content across all our platforms from one place — and that’s how SocialSync AI was born.

What it does

SocialSync AI is a unified social media management platform that allows users to:

  • Connect multiple social media accounts (e.g., TikTok, YouTube, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Create or schedule posts from a single dashboard
  • Use AI to generate captions and post ideas
  • Upload media and automatically publish it across platforms
  • Reduce time and effort by automating repetitive posting tasks

How we built it

We used a modern tech stack to build SocialSync AI:

  • Bolt AI for the core UI development and visual layout
  • OpenAI API for generating intelligent captions, hashtags, and post ideas
  • Supabase as the backend (authentication, storage, and real-time data handling)
  • Tailwind CSS for fast and responsive UI styling
  • GitHub for version control and team collaboration
  • OAuth 2.0 + REST APIs to integrate social platforms like TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter

Challenges we ran into

  • TikTok’s limited posting API: Gaining access to TikTok’s video publishing API required manual approval and additional application steps.
  • OAuth setup confusion: Each platform had its own way of handling OAuth flows and tokens, which made the initial integration tricky and inconsistent.
  • Content formatting: Each platform has different media requirements (e.g., video dimensions, character limits), so formatting posts universally was a challenge.
  • Token security: We had to learn how to store tokens securely and refresh them when they expired.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully integrated multiple social media platforms into one unified dashboard
  • Built an app that solves a real problem we personally faced
  • Created a working prototype that uses AI to help users generate content faster
  • Learned how to manage and secure API tokens and permissions across platforms
  • Designed a responsive UI using Tailwind and Bolt AI that’s creator-friendly

What we learned

  • How to work with OAuth 2.0 and APIs from TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter
  • How to securely manage access tokens and user data with Supabase
  • The power of AI when integrated into real-world workflows like social media content
  • How a well-designed UI (thanks to Bolt AI and Tailwind) improves productivity
  • The importance of focusing on a real user pain point to guide development

What's next for SocialSync AI

  • Add analytics and engagement tracking per post/platform
  • Include support for auto-translations and subtitles
  • Integrate image and video editing tools within the dashboard
  • Build mobile apps for quick posting and monitoring on the go
  • Launch a creator-focused plan for influencers and gamers
  • Partner with content creators in Africa and beyond to grow our user base
