There are many people who are needy don't have enough of life's necessities, like money, food, or shelter. There are many people who want to donate the life necessities money, food, or shelter. But don’t have time and knowledge about needy’ s.
As a team, we are wanting to build a platform to help both donator and needy’ s to fulfill their needs and connecting right donator and right needy’ s in a quicker way.

What it does

Text-to-Donate: Food is necessary for everyone in the universe. It’s very important that we encourage the donators to contribute food to needy’s in an easy way. GoRight Solution’s Social Service application provides easy way to donate food. Social Service application provides Text-to-Donate service helps donators start donating food when they are on the go, using their mobile phone. It encourages and enable donations to contribute anytime instantly. Donators need a single text message to start the donation process.

Food Pantry: Social Service application automates pantry inventory management process, food distribution to shelters, sending flyers, identify the potential pantry needs. It enables pantry manager to track and mange potential donations, available stock and future needs.

How we built it

Twilio Integration Text-To-Donate technology build using Twilio's Programmable SMS API. Twilio provides a dedicated 10-digit U.S. telephone number: (201) 500-3349 to receive text message from donators, Twilio provides REST service-based integration with Pega Platform using Webhook. Twilio make HTTP POST request to Pega whenever a text message received, pega service responds with TwiML (Twilio Markup Language) with self-service link, Twilio send SMS response with self-service link to start Food Donation user journey NOTE: A trial version of Twilio phone number (201) 500-3349 used for this hackathon. This can be implemented and improved using Pega Digital messaging, we have unable to implement due to licensing issues.

Food Donation User Journey Social Service application has Food donation user journey to connect Donators with Food Pantry Managers. Donators (users) can initiate the journey anytime by launching self-service URL from their mobile. Donator will share their contact information and donation details. After donor submits the new request, the case will be routed to Pantry manager to accept the donation. This process can be improved to support inventory management, arrange pickup for donation, thanks notification, Live Display, ect

Job Scheduler A daily job to create a list of items needs to send to shelters based on needs. This job helps to pantry manager to easy identify the list for daily food distribution shelters. Also this job an alert the low inventory items to help create Food Needed Flyers and can be send to potential donators.

What we learned

This is the first pega hackathon for GoRight team. We have learned about, how to work as team, collaborate, divide and conquer. We have learned how to solve real world issues using Pega Platform. We have got an opportunity to learn about pega platform capabilities such as AI, NLP, Digital Messaging, Mashup. Also learned about helping other is joyful.

What's next for Social Service

After hackathon, we have plan to conduct more functional and performance testing and make Social Service applications as production ready. We will focus on implementing security model using Role-based access control (RBAC) and enable encryption to keep sensitive information confidential. We also plan to enhance Text-To-Donate to support Money and Dress donations. Social Service application can also be enhanced to support Digital Fundraising, Event Fundraising. Finally, we are planning to donate this application for Social Service provides.
