Inspiration
As college students, we understand first-hand the pressures that come with learning and building community in a new environment. Too often, students are often faced with many new social dynamics that they aren’t sure how to navigate.
Thus we were inspired to design and build Social Reboot to help students be in-tune with themselves by helping them understand their social battery - from how it fluctuates to how to recharge it to improve the quality of their social lives.
What it does
It is hooked up to a digital watch and measures a person’s interoception or “Social Battery” through electromagnetic waves and heart rate.
How we built it
We designed and built Social Reboot using Figma and FigmaMake.
Challenges we ran into
It required a lot of effort prompting and re-prompting FigmaMake to ensure its iterations to our prototypes reflected and amplified our vision for our design. This obstacle encouraged us to collaborate together as a team and tailor our prompts to communicate our design ideas as clearly as possible.
Another challenge we ran into was making sure our designs were both visually appealing and functional. There were moments where prioritizing aesthetic features put the accessibility of our app at risk.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Maintaining accessibility guidelines in our app's UI design. Making an app on FigmaMake from end-to-end.
What we learned
How to use FigmaMake to build impact-driven apps and make design iterations. Perfecting our skills and experience with Figma's AutoLayout feature.
