Inspiration
Social media and the pandemic changed the way that we interact with people. Everyone deserves their chance in the spotlight.
What it does
You will be put into a group message with a group of people of the opposite gender and you get to decide who you match with. You can end the chat at any time and choose your suitor.
How we built it
We used React.JS, Firebase, Firestore, and Material UI.
Challenges we ran into
At first we had trouble coming up with an idea because the dating app industry has a lot of competition. But we tried to address the issue of anonymity and social pressure by giving the user the chance to stand out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
After interviewing lots of potential dating app users and taking their feedback, we built a functional proof-of-concept in about 24 hours.
What we learned
We learned about teamwork, as most of us had not met each other prior to this project.
What's next for Social Nerd
Launch an app and keep seeking user feedback. Expand the feature set and design more types of interactions.
