Inspiration

Sometimes it's hard to stay in the know of all the events happening on campus. Currently, information about events is circulated via school emails (these get lost in your inbox), flyers (not eco-friendly), and Facebook events (can sometimes be exclusive). But, there isn't an existing central resource for students to get this information from!

What it does

Our website, Social-Life, is designed to simplify the way on-campus and off-campus events are posted and circulated by making this information easily accessible. Users can post their events by filling out a form on our website with the appropriate information. Users also have the ability to personalize their feed by filtering the events based on tags such as: 1) School-events 2) Cultural Events 3) Sports Events 4) Off-campus Events 5) Speaker Events

How We built it

For the front end part of the stack, we used html, css, and javascript. For the back end, we used mongodb and node.js to store the events.

Challenges We ran into

The learning curve for these technologies were somewhat challenging. But we learned a lot from this hackathon through trial-and-error as well as through lots of asking for help.

What's next for Social-Life Project at MHC

To see if this idea would be a helpful tool for MHC students!
