After playing around with the spark core long enough, I realized you could essentially give it power anywhere there was WiFi and push data to it through Spark Cloud. With that, I thought it would be nice to have a small box mounted to a wall or desk with a row of lights for different social media networks or other things on the internet that deserve physical LED recognition. I was thankful to find IFTTT instead of having to figure out how to put SSL capabilities on the core for each API it needed to access. This made the code much less difficult and the hack is more easily customizable. This hack is great for people who need to know when something happens online, but may not always have their phone at their desk.
