Inspiration

We were inspired by brands like IPSY and TukTuk Box.

What it does

Our brand provides customers randomized boxes filled with products owned by AAPI businesses. Part of the proceeds we make will also be donated to AAPI advocating organizations.

How we built it

We first came up with our idea and surveyed our friends to get their input. Afterwards, we narrowed our ideas down and put them onto our low fidelity prototype. Next, we moved onto designing the high fidelity prototype.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was all of our teammates not being in the same location. The three of us are from two different universities, so communication was a bit difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that despite us not being together and this process being new to all of us, we were able to get through it and try our best to complete our prototype.

What we learned

We learned that there are many steps to go through and many aspects to take into account before completing our prototype.

What's next for Social Change

We hope that our idea will help the public to become more aware of the AAPI-owned businesses around them and that they get educated on the issues surrounding the AAPI-community.

What is the problem your solution addresses?

Despite the current conditions of xenophobia and anti-Asian hate in America, the amount of effort and spread of awareness is not enough. There are not enough resources, Asian-owned businesses, and publicity on current events in the media; therefore, the AAPI movement is stagnant and anti-Asian hate crimes continue to persist. With the solution, the public will be more aware of the anti-asian hate movement and the AAPI community will be more accepted than they are currently.

Why did you pick this solution, and how does this address the problem?

Our platform will actively make a difference by directly supporting AAPI-owned businesses and organizations that are dedicated to advocating for the AAPI community through a monthly subscription box that consists of a variety of products that cater to those who want to support, learn more about the AAPI community, and receive new desirable goods every month! We picked this solution because as young Asian-Americans, we wanted to find a way for us and people in our demographic to actively support small Asian-businesses as well as educating ourselves while still buying the products we use and love everyday.
