Inspiration: At Asheboro High School, we saw a need for a centralized, easy-to-access platform to keep students, parents, teachers, and the community connected. With so many events, announcements, and extracurricular activities happening daily, important information often gets lost. We wanted to create an all-in-one app that makes staying informed effortless and engaging.
What We Learned: Throughout this project, we learned how important effective communication is for school communities. We also gained valuable experience in app development, user experience design, and problem-solving. Additionally, we discovered how to integrate real-time updates and organize information in a way that’s easy to navigate.
How We Built It: We started with brainstorming key features that would benefit our community the most. Then, we designed the app interface, ensuring it was user-friendly and accessible. We utilized mobile development tools to build the app, incorporating sections for news, events, athletics, resources, and more. Finally, we tested the app with students and staff to refine its functionality.
Challenges We Faced: One of the biggest challenges was making sure the app was simple yet comprehensive, we didn’t want to overwhelm users with too much information but still needed to include everything they’d need. Another challenge was ensuring real-time updates and notifications worked smoothly. We also faced some technical difficulties with integrating school databases and event calendars, but through research and teamwork, we found solutions.
