Web2 to Web3

The Internet has around 5 billion monthly active users out of which 4.6 billion are social media users. If we want to onboard 1 billion users to web3 we should target the social media market so we studied the present-day social media platforms and found numerous problems, the answer to these problems is Social Blocks.

“Social Blocks is the world’s first community-driven, creator oriented social media platform.”

What it does

Tokenization : By using web3’s tokenization we convert every post into a non-fungible asset (NFT). This gives creators a chance to have their art as a digital asset which can be sold independently. And the audience gets a chance to collect the art pieces of their favorite artists. so it’s a win-win situation for both the creator and the audience. A post on Social Blocks can be biddable, buyable or not for sale.

Reward on Post : Social Blocks Incentivize creators by rewarding them on the engagement they get on their posts. The reward is in Social Blocks native token (SBT). We have planned so many utilities for the Social Blocks Token which will increase the token’s value.

Marketing DAO : Nobody likes to see ads of products that are not environmentally friendly or not good for our health so we are designing a DAO where the community approves the ads they want to see on the platform. These will be community approved ads. The revenue generated through these ads will be distributed between the creators, DAO voters and will be used to pump the token price which will benefit the token holders / community.

Socializing Features : Web3 opens the doors to so many ideas that can change the way we socialize on social media platforms and connect with our favorite content creators. We are always open to suggestions. Currently we are working on:

  1. SuperMails are special mails that an individual can send to his/her favorite creator, it's like a fan mail in real world.
  2. SuperBadges are special kinds of digital badges that a creator can create and assign to one of their followers. These badges will have numerous utilities.

How we built it

Tech stack

  1. Solidity for smart contracts.
  2. React.ts for client-side.
  3. The Graph for indexing data.
  4. Node.js for server-side.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Scalability.
  2. User-friendliness.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are so proud that we have built a working prototype of Social Blocks in such a short period of time.

What we learned

We learned a lot during the process of designing the architecture of the dapp and making it user-friendly for non-web3 users.

What's next for Social Blocks

We have a lot of future plans for SocialBlocks, as we mentioned earlier that our current dapp is a proof of concept and a lot of things are still in the designing phase so we’ll be completing the designing and move on to the implementation phase .
