Inspiration

We first thought about the tough transition to university, the academic and scheduling challenges of adjusting to a new way of learning. On top of this, students are often moving to a new place, away from home, and are forced into the challenge of socially adapting on top of the challenges college already poses. We decided to create this app in response to that challenge, to both help users connect with the people around them, while also helping them regulate their own social battery.

What it does

It provides college students an analysis of their social engagement. It collects data for who and how long they have been socialising. It links them to other users on the app who have conversed with them before. It provides tips to regulate feelings of loneliness and burnout from the results of social engagement.

How we built it

Both of us are designers, so we stuck with Figma and FigmaMake throughout our design process.

Challenges we ran into

Creating the slides was a bit challenging due to Figma Slides being a new feature I haven't used before. Reaching out to users for research was a bit difficult too because we were on a time crunch and didn't have enough time for usability testing for the final product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We feel very accomplished for creating a mock-up app within just 3 days that is decent! We like the layout and the unique idea we came up with.

What we learned

We learned how to design in time constraints. We previously created a website through Figma within three months, and getting it done in three days taught us a lot about learning and designing quickly with the knowledge we know.

What's next for Social Battery

We are unsure of the future for Social Battery, but we may implement this idea in a future project, or come back to it when this idea becomes a big thing in the future of unique senses.
