Inspiration
Soccer data analysts use advanced simulations to analyze key moments, plays, and positioning. Our main inspiration was to take advice directly from US Soccer about how these programs could be improved, and create an application focused on UX and modularity.
What it does
Allows you to view simulated soccer matches, scrub through the animation using a frame slider, play/pause, and export gifs of a given chunk of frames
How we built it
We used Django, Bootstrap, Streamlit, and python to build our application
Challenges we ran into
Time management was a big issue, since only 24 hours were allotted for our project, and it was during a week day with classes. Research was also a big problem, as we dove into some libraries that weren't quite able to mesh with what we wanted to accomplish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating and getting the application to a workable state, with a functional UI. I would say we are most proud of the Gif generator.
What we learned
How to effectively manage time in crunch scenarios, adaptability, general teamwork skills, and perseverance.
What's next for Soccer Tracker
Adding data insertion, so you can select which match you want to view, cleaning up some of the sliders and functions so that everything works smoothly
