Details
We are team #124 in the advanced category. Our chosen prompt was "Write a program that utilizes OpenCV".
Inspiration
Our inspiration was a YouTuber who could play GTA V using only the motion of his hands. (https://youtu.be/F8jHWu5fUM0?t=187). We wanted to create our own version of this which could be applied to multiple games.
What it does
Our project uses OpenCV to play games 🎮 and apply webcam filters 📷.
How we built it
We built this program completely in python, using the OpenCV and Mediapipe libraries. We also used Figma and Tkinter for the UI.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges that we encountered were slow camera and hand detections.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating multiple webcam filters and allowing users to game without having to use their keyboard or mouse.
What we learned
We learned about OpenCV and its different implementations and applications.
What's next for SOCAP
We can further progress our product by adding more filters, keybinds, and compatibility with other games. We also want to use TensorFlow which would allow for the detection of more complex actions such as ASL.
